The trade union organization is an important means of communication between the employees and management of the customs administration. Through elected representatives from all the units and workplaces, it supervises compliance with the principles contained in the Collective Agreement. In addition to that the trade union organization also expends considerable efforts on the cultural and sports activities of the employees outside of working hours. Every year, the employees and members of the customs administration can also compare their performance in individual sports disciplines at many competitions and championships. Some sports competitions have a tradition reaching back many years, for example the championships of the customs administration in running, cross-country skiing, cycling, volleyball, tennis and football. The customs administration is a member of the European Customs Sports Association and participates in many international competitions announced by this association. Further activities are closely connected with sports, such as holding of a number of summer camps for the children of employees. Every year during the summer holidays, several hundred children find a temporary home in the recreation centres of the customs administration where, under the watchful eye of camp leaders, they experience moments they will long remember. Throughout the year, the customs administration also offers its employees and their family members a number of domestic and exchange recreational stays abroad.
