Objects of cultural values include products of nature or artefacts or their ensembles, which are of significance for history, literature, arts or sciences. Export of objects of cultural value is allowed exclusively against a certificate stating that they are not objects, which have been declared as cultural heritage, or objects, which belong to an ensemble declares as cultural heritage. Archive documents may be exported against a written certificate issued by regional archives, within whose authority the persons exporting or sending such archives have their place of residence or registered office. In respect of persons with residence or a registered office outside the territory of the Czech Republic, the archives within whose authority the Customs Office, which releases the documents for export procedure, is located, represents the relevant office of authority.

Notice:

-       Certificates are issued upon request and for a fee by professional organisations (museums, galleries, institutes, etc.).

PROHIBITIONS AND LIMITATIONS APPLICABLE TO EXPORT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

In the event of exports of cultural heritage, consent issued by the Ministry of Culture is required in order to allow such export. Simultaneously with the export licence issued by the Ministry of Culture, also a decision in administrative proceeding should be issued stipulating the conditions under which such export can be implemented.

EXPORT OF CERTAIN CULTURAL GOODS FROM THE CUSTOMS TERRITORY OF THE EU

Exports of certain cultural goods from the customs territory of the EU is governed by Council Regulation (EEC) N° 3911/92/EC, on export of cultural goods. Upon exports of cultural goods, it is necessary to submit an export licence pursuant to Act No. 214/2002 Coll. Export licences issued pursuant to Act No. 214/2002 Coll. would not replace consents, permissions, certificates or licences issued pursuant to special legislation.
